En algunos países, la interculturalidad se considera un método para cualquier estrategia de coexistencia social pacífica. La interculturalidad es un signo de cambio respecto al tradicional enfoque multicultural adoptado por muchos Estados. El alcance innovador de la interculturalidad en Ecuador y Bolivia impulsa la formulación de teorías que sitúan este fenómeno en el marco de categorías jurídicas y alimenta debates sobre su autonomía entre las formas de Estado. En este ensayo, nos preguntamos si la interculturalidad puede dar lugar a un nuevo modelo de forma de Estado y cuáles deberían ser sus características esenciales. Adoptando un enfoque fuzzy para la clasificación propuesta, se esbozan un tipo de Estado intercultural débil y otro fuerte.

In some Countries, interculturality is seen as a method for any strategy of peaceful social coexistence. Interculturality is a sign of change from the traditional multicultural approach adopted by many States. The innovative scope of interculturality in Ecuador and Bolivia prompts the formulation of theories that place this phenomenon within the framework of legal categories, and fuels debates on its autonomy between forms of State. In this essay, we ask whether interculturality can give rise to a new model of form of State and what its essential characteristics should be. Adopting a fuzzy approach to the proposed classification, a weak and a strong type of intercultural State are outlined.
