    El texto discute sobre el rol social de la Iglesia católica en el siglo XX, expresado en múltiples actividades pastorales y su presencia en los campos político y social, que ha permitido en los últimos años el desarrollo de una producción historiográfica destacable. Pasa revista a las investigaciones más resaltantes, sus contribuciones por países, regiones y temáticas; e inserta, en ese contexto, los aportes de los trabajos que a continuación se presentan. Como resultado, el estudio plantea algunas claves derivadas del estado de la cuestión y de dichos trabajos.

    This text discusses the social role of the Catholic Church in the 20th century, expressed in multiple pastoral activities as well as its presence in the political and social fields, which in recent years has allowed the development of a remarkable historiographical production. It examines the most outstanding research, categorizing it by country, region, and theme; and integrates within this framework the contributions of the studies presented below. Finally, the study presents some guidelines derived from the state of the art and said studies.
