Resumen de Un episodio iconoclasta durante el reinado de Heraclio: Juan Seísmo y el uso del patrimonio cultural con fines políticos

Tomando como punto de partida una anécdota recogida en el Chronicon Paschale acerca de un motín en Constantinopla se plantea un estudio sobre los usos políticos del patrimonio. Aplicando una metodología cualitativa basada en un análisis crítico del texto del siglo VII se desgranan tres aspectos:(a) una datación correcta del fragmento atendiendo al debate historiográfico al respecto; (b) identificación de unos personajes, la mayoría de los cuales sólo conocemos por esta noticia y (c) el estudio del espacio patrimonial como escenario político y el episodio de iconoclastia derivado del motín.

Taking as a starting point an anecdote from the Chronicon Paschaleabout a riot in Constantinople, a study is made of the political uses of heritage. Applying a qualitative methodology based on a critical analysis of the 7th century text, three aspects are explored: (a) the correct dating of the fragment in the light of the historiographical debate on the subject; (b) the identification of certain characters, most of whom are only known to us through this news item; and (c) the study of the heritage space as a political scenario and the episode of iconoclasm derived from the riot.
