The historic seismicity studies in Venezuela at the end of XVII th century, is one of the worriest thing for Alejandro de Humboldt during his scientific expedition to the equinoctials regions of the new world. Under this idea and following the programmad activities for 'the 200 years of Alejandro Humboldt's Scientific Expedition and the Universidad Central de Venezuela (U. C. V.),' we have made an analysis of the wisdom german summary, the economics and social effects that this earthquakes produced in Venezuela's provinces at the end of the XVIII th century and the different relations with the natural environment which these phenomena could have in the Caribbean basin. This work, based in a group of primary resources in which Humboldt's testimony, makes a special mention to the Cumana earthquake and it's effect on the territory of 'the New Andalucia Province'.
