    La literatura especializada ha solido reproducir la distinción scheleriana entre “actos” y “funciones” sin aventurar, por lo general, una justificación teórica satisfactoria de la misma; la cual tampoco es ofrecida con claridad por el fenomenólogo muniqués. En este artículo propongo una interpretación de dichos conceptos que ayude a clarificarlos y que haga comprensible su diferenciación. Se comprobará que la distinción entre acto y función es de importancia decisiva para la antropología filosófica y, en particular, para el contraste entre el “mundo” (Welt) de la persona humana y el “entorno” (Umwelt) del animal. Como contribución al tratamiento de tales cuestiones, plenamente vigentes un siglo después de la muerte de Scheler, me permito introducir el concepto adicional de “mera función”.

    While specialists often reproduce Scheler’s distinction between “acts” and “functions”, they seldom venture a satisfactory theoretical justification of it, which the German philosopher did not clearly offer either. In this paper I propose an interpretation of those concepts aimed at clarifying them. It will be shown that the distinction between acts and functions is of great importance for the philosophical anthropology and, in particular, for establishing the contrast between the person’s “world” (Welt) and the animal’s “environment” (Umwelt). As a contribution to the discussion of these topics, still so popular one century after Scheler’s death, I also take the liberty of introducing an additional concept: that of “mere function”.
