La Motivación del Alumnado en Las Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas:: Un Acercamiento

    En el presente artículo1pretendemos explorar la motivación y la atención a la diversidad de los estudiantes adultos en las Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas de Galicia a través de la teoría de los Possible Selvesdesarrollada por H. Markus y P. Nurius en el año 1986. El principal objetivo es intentar comprender cómo las manifestaciones positivas y también negativas de uno mismo pueden influir en la motivación y en el éxito en el aprendizaje de idiomas en dichos centros educativos, con la intención de permitir a los docentes desarrollar enfoques, estrategias y dinámicas eficaces y específicas para mejorar la motivación y el desempeño del alumnado. Participaron en el estudio 55 estudiantes de las Escuelas Oficiales de Galicia, de los cuales 5 de ellos eran alumnado con necesidades específicas de apoyo educativo (NEAE). A través de un cuestionario de respuesta abierta, generaron Possible Selvesen tres secciones diferentes: preguntas contextuales, preguntas sobre la autopercepción y atención a la diversidad. Del estudio se concluye que el alumnado de las Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas presenta en general una alta motivación, lo cual genera que tomen parte en su proceso personal de enseñanza. Se deduce también la necesidad de favorecer el autoconocimiento de los estudiantes, especialmente con referencia a las manifestaciones negativas de los Possible Selves

    In this article1we intend to explore the motivation and attention to the diversity of adult students in Official Language Schools of Galicia through the Possible Selves theory developed by H. Markus and P. Nurius in 1986. The main objective is to understand how positive and negative manifestations of oneself can influence motivation and success in language learning in these educational centers, with the intention of allowing teachers to develop effective approaches, strategies and dynamics to improve student motivation and performance. Fifty-five students from the Official Schools of Galicia participated in the study, 5 of whom were students with special educational needs (SEN). Through an open-ended questionnaire, they generated Possible Selves in three different sections: contextual questions, questions about self-perception, and attention to diversity. From the study it is concluded that the students at the Official Language Schools generally present a high motivation, which generates that they take part in their personal teaching process. It also deduces the need to promote the self-knowledge of the students, especially with reference to the negative manifestations of the Possible Selves.
