From the very beginning of contemporary museums, we have seen the emergence of a museophobia while, conversely, their supporters enthusiastically praised the progressive and democratic features of the new system. One could then hope or fear for, depending on the case, if not their disappearance, at least the limitation of their development. Today, the inevitability of the museum is obvious. But it offers the paradox of an institution that is absolutely unquestionable and whose seemingly unlimited growth is sanctioned by everyone which, nevertheless, seems to offer the wrong answer to a whole series of questions.
