La institucionalización y el desarrollo de la antropología española tuvo su culmen con la creación del Instituto “Bernardino de Sahagún” de Antropología y Etnología (IBS), afecto al Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, mas éste no era el único Instituto dedicado al estudio antropológico, puesto que en 1945 se creó el Instituto de Estudios Africanos (IDEA), contando con una sección de antropología y etnología. El discurso colonial y su extrapolación a los estudios antropológicos se tradujo en un aumento de los estudios africanos, aumentándose por ende el número de expediciones antropológicas financiadas por el CSIC y la Dirección General de Marruecos y Colonias. Así pues, en 1948 se produjo la primera expedición bajo la dirección del IDEA y de la Dirección General de Marruecos y Colonias, dirigida por Santiago Alcobé Noguer, uno de los principales antropólogos del primer franquismo.

The institutionalization and development of Spanish anthropology reached its culmination with the creation of the “Bernardino de Sahagún” Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology (IBS), attached to the Higher Council for Scientific Research, but this was not the only Institute dedicated to anthropological study: in 1945 the Institute of African Studies (IDEA) was created, with a section of anthropology and ethnology. The colonial discourse and its extrapolation to anthropological studies resulted in an increase in African studies, thus increasing the number of anthropological expeditions financed by the CSIC and the General Directorate of Morocco and Colonies. Thus, in 1948 the first expedition took place under the direction of IDEA and the General Directorate of Morocco and Colonies, directed by Santiago Alcobé Noguer, one of the main anthropologists of the first Franco regime.
