Resumen de Roland Barthes e o rumor da língua no Oriente

The purpose of this article is to examine an unexplored aspect of the work of the French writer Roland Barthes: his relationship with the Orient, from the point of view of his thoughts about literary language based on his experiences in Maghreb countries, as well as in Japan and China. In order to do so, we will study the notions of incident and empty sign, created, respectively, from his experiences in Morocco and Japan, and then we will focus on Barthes’ considerations on China, the country to which he traveled later. From the confrontation between two different concepts of the Orient, one coined from his experiences in Morocco and in Japan, and the other from China, emerges a reflection on the essence of language, in the form of the “rustle of language”.

A proposta deste artigo é examinar um aspecto pouco estudado da obra do escritor francês Roland Barthes, a saber, suas relações com o Oriente, do ponto de vista de suas reflexões sobre a linguagem literária oriundas de suas experiências nos países do Magrebe, no Japão e na China. Para tal, examinaremos as noções de incidente e de signo vazio, criadas, respetivamente, com base em suas experiências no Marrocos e no Japão, para, em seguida, privilegiarmos as reflexões de Barthes incitadas pela China, país para onde viajou posteriormente. Do confronto entre duas conceções diferentes de Oriente, uma cunhada a partir de suas experiências no Marrocos e no Japão e a outra, a partir da China, emerge uma reflexão sobre a essência da linguagem, sob a forma do “rumor da língua”.
