Este estudio explora el nacimiento y evolución del proyecto sanitario liberal en Yucatán, México, durante el siglo XIX, utilizando fuentes primarias como constituciones, reglamentos, ordenanzas municipales, y libros de cabildo. Se detalla cómo las Comisiones de Policía y las Juntas de Sanidad se establecieron y operaron, destacando sus marcos jurí-dico y práctico. Este análisis revela las raíces históricas de la salud pública en Yucatán y su inherente dimensión política, examinando tres ejes: saberes, normativas y prácticas. Esta investigación contribuye a una comprensión más profunda de la historia de la salud pública y su desarrollo institucional en la región

This study delves into the genesis and progression of the liberal health project in Yuca-tán, Mexico, throughout the 19th century. Utilizing a range of primary sources, including constitutions, regulations, municipal ordinances, and council records, the research meti-culously outlines the formation and functioning of the Police Commissions and Health Boards. It emphasizes their legal and operational frameworks, thus shedding light on the historical underpinnings of public health in Yucatán, along with its inherent political aspects. By examining three pivotal axes—knowledge, norms, and practices—the study reveals key insights into the historical evolution and institutional development of public health in the region, thereby enriching our understanding of its historical context and legacy.
