    In Spain, only were not centralist the Republican Constitution of 1931 andthe Constitution of 1978, currently in force. In Portugal, only the Constitution of 1976 enshrined the Autonomous Regions (Madeira and the Azores). However,despite the centralizing ideas have prevailed for longer, were the descentralizing political ideas that marked the course of most Spanish and Portuguese constitutional history.

Em Portugal, apenas a Constituiçãode 1976 consagrou Regiões Autónomas (Madeira e Açores). No entanto, apesarde as ideias centralizadoras terem predominado durante mais tempo, foramas ideias políticas descentralizadoras que marcaram mais o rumo da históriaconstitucional espanhola e portuguesa.
