    We did select the historical perspective which involves the relations between the State and the Catholic Church (1910-1926), looking for deep marks of identity and national symbols, through the promotion of republican cultural’s key objectives: republican citizenship’s rituals and political emblems; popular and civic participation on holidays and national parties; solidary ties between political republican memory and historical national memory construction.

    A perspectiva histórica escolhida envolve as relações entre o Estado e a Igreja Católica (1910-1926), procurando marcas profundas da identidade e dos símbolos nacionais através da promoção de objectivos essenciais da cultura republicana: ritos e emblemas políticos de cidadania republicana; participação cívica e popular nos feriados oficiais e nas festas nacionais; laço solidário entre a construção da memória política republicana e da memória histórica nacional.
