    l presente ensayo tiene por objetivo analizar la tensión entre la institucionalidad y el movimiento de masas a partir del caso del movimiento ‘Chile despertó’, desarrollado desde octubre 2019 hasta marzo del 2020. Para esto inicia con una lectura del contexto post-transicional chileno y la reemergencia de movimientos sociales en este marco. Posteriormente, profundiza en el desenvolvimiento de dos de los movimientos más importantes en las últimas décadas dando cuenta de sus tensiones con lo institucional: el movimiento estudiantil y feminista. En un siguiente apartado, explora la emergencia del movimiento Chile despertó y sus características, intentando develar las razones de la masividad y el rol de personas no politizadas ni organizadas en ello. El texto finaliza con unos comentarios sobre los recientes resultados del proceso constituyente emprendido como consecuencia de estas protestas, revelando algunas claves para analizar las posibilidades y límites de la institucionalidad para dar salida a las demandas del movimiento de masas.

    This essay aims to analyze the tension between institutionality and mass social movements based on the case of the ‘Chile awoke’ movement, which developed from October 2019 to March 2020. In order to do this, the essay begins contextualizing Chilean democracy after the dictatorship and the re-emergence of social movements. Subsequently, it explores the tensions with the institutionality of the Chilean student and feminist movements, which are the most relevant in recent decades. In the following section, the emergence of Chile awoke movement and its characteristics are examined, trying to reveal the reasons for its massiveness and the role of non-politicized or organized people in it. The text ends with some comments on the recent results of the constitutional process undertaken as a result of these protests, revealing some keys to understanding the possibilities and limits of the institutionality to canalize the demands of the mass movement
