    No apartado espaço colonial, os rios condicionaram o traçado, a alternância e a predominância de algumas rotas. Neste artigo analisamos a associação entre rotas fluviais e terrestres que abriram e ampliaram a circulação entre o litoral e os sertões de Minas Gerais no século XVIII. Esse recorte temporal justifica-se pela recuperação de informações de arquivo que nos possibilitaram analisar determinados trechos das principais rotas que articularam litoral e sertão a partir da descoberta de ouro nas minas gerais. Percebe-se nesta análise que a rede de drenagem foi o quadro natural que orientou e permitiu a circulação, sendo esta apoiada em aglomerados. A associação dos caminhos fluviais com os terrestres viabilizou os deslocamentos responsáveis por articular um diversificado e amplo conjunto de núcleos de povoamento e que evidenciam a constituição de uma rede de circulação no passado.

    In the further colonial territory, rivers conditioned the tracing, alternation and predominance of some routes.

    In the present article, we investigate the association between fluvial and terrestrial routes that created and expanded the circulation of goods between the coastal region and the hinterlands of Minas Gerais in the 18th century. This temporary cut is justified by the retrieval of archival information that allowed us to analyze certain parts of the main routes which connected the coast and the hinterlands following the discovery of gold mines in the region. This study shows that the drainage network was the natural setting which guided and facilitated the circulation of goods that was supported by the communities. The link between fluvial and terrestrial routes enabled the dislocations that are responsible for connecting a diverse and wide range of populations and signal the existence of a circulation network in the past.
