Resumen de Capítulo 5. Recursos terapéuticos entre Yokotanes de Tamulté, Centro Tabasco, el caso de Tocoal

  El presente capítulo muestra los recursos terapéuticos identificados y utilizados por habitantes de Tamulté de las Sabanas, Centro, Tabasco, México. El trabajo se compone de cuatro apartados, el primero corresponde a la introducción, donde se describe el área de estudio y la importancia de los recursos terapéuticos como parte del patrimonio biocultural y del proceso de salud-enfermedad-atención de las comunidades rurales o indígenas. Seguidamente en los materiales y métodos se mencionan el objetivo, diseño, muestra e instrumento de investigación. En los resultados, se presentan las plantas medicinales, sus usos, las partes más utilizadas y dónde puede adquirirse. Se nombran los animales con propiedades terapéuticas, incluye un cuadro donde se especifica la enfermedad que atiende, cómo y qué parte del animal se utiliza. Se narran los rituales y técnicas terapéuticas mencionando los propósitos y procedimientos de cada una; y como cierre de los resultados, pueden identificarse la variedad de terapeutas tradicionales existentes en la comunidad, se hace la clasificación de acuerdo con la denominación que hace la población, las prácticas realizadas, el género y padecimientos atendidos. Finalmente, en las conclusiones se enfatiza la importancia de este tipo de estudios y su relevancia para las comunidades y la medicina tradicional mexicana.

  Traditional therapeutic resources refer to those healing or complementary elements for the treatment of diseases, in the context of traditional Mexican medicine, with the cosmovision and biocultural context to which a given population is part of. It includes plants, animals, minerals, rituals and the therapists themselves, among others. This chapter shows the therapeutic resources identified and used by the inhabitants of Tamulté de las Sabanas, Centro, Tabasco, Mexico. The work is composed of four sections, the f irst one corresponds to the introduction, where the study area is described and the importance of therapeutic resources as part of the biocultural heritage and of the health-disease-care process of rural or indigenous communities. Next, in the materials and methods, the objective, design, sample and research instrument are mentioned. In the results, the medicinal plants, their uses, the most used parts and where they can be acquired are presented. T he animals with therapeutic properties are named, including a table specifying the disease it treats, how and what part of the animal is used. Rituals and therapeutic techniques are narrated, mentioning the purposes and procedures of each one; and to close the results, the variety of traditional therapists existing in the community can be identified, the classification is made according to the denomination made by the population, the practices performed, the gender and the ailments treated. Finally, the conclusions emphasize the importance of this type of study and its relevance for the communities and traditional Mexican medicine.
