    Aunque el arte mudéjar nace en el ámbito peninsular español durante la Edad Media, su proyección atlántica tiene lugar entre los siglos XVI y XVIII, difundiéndose por todas las colonias bajo la marca hispana. A modo de preludio, Canarias ensayará y filtrará las influencias europeas, gestando un patrimonio tan rico como diverso. El archipiélago no escatimará en formas y colores que encontrarán en los artesonados el lienzo idóneo para esta manifestación. Dentro del actual México, aunque sus obras más representativas son las armaduras de la catedral de Tlaxcala y de la ermita de San Diego en Huejotzingo, el estado de Chiapas cuenta con la mayor cantidad de techumbres de raigambre mudéjar del país. En un intento por arrojar luz sobre el protagonismo del territorio chiapaneco, pretendemos abordar algunos de los múltiples ejemplos existentes en el lugar, haciendo hincapié en los motivos de su desarrollo, sus débitos y peculiaridades.

    Although Mudejar art was born in the Spanish peninsular area during the Middle Ages, its Atlantic projection took place between the 16th and 18th centuries, spreading throughout all the Hispanic colonies. As a prelude, Canary Islands will rehearse and filter European influences, creating a heritage as rich as it is diverse. The archipelago will not skimp on shapes and colors that you will find in the coffered ceilings, the ideal canvas for this event. Within present-day Mexico, although his most representative works are the ceilings of the cathedral of Tlaxcala and the hermitage of San Diego in Huejotzingo, the state of Chiapas has the largest number of ceilings of Mudejar roots in the country. In an attempt to shed light on the leading role of the Chiapas territory, we intend to address some of the many examples existing in the place, emphasizing the reasons for its development, its debts and peculiarities.
