Resumen de Disonancias revolucionarias. La música alternativa de Hanns Eisler para "Las uvas de la ira" (1940) de John Ford

Breixo Viejo

  • From 1940 to 1942, the German composer exiled in New York Hanns Eisler (1898-1962) received a Rockefeller Foundation scholarship to do practical and theoretical research on the different uses and possibilities of film music. Among the practical results of what later was called the Film Music Project was the alternative soundtrack Eisler wrote for some sequences of John Ford’s The Grapes of Wrath (1940). The analysis of these unconventional compositions demonstrates how an intelligent use of music can profoundly intensify the aesthetic and ideological abstract meaning of a particular film sequence.
