Evolución del consumo de sustancias psicoactivas en adolescentes usuarios de un centro de tratamiento

    En los últimos años el incremento de consumo de sustancias psicoactivas en adolescentes ha crecido de forma considerable y se considera como una problemática grave de salud pública, que resalta la necesidad de realizar estudios sobre las características del consumo con el fin de ofrecer alternativas de tratamiento específicas. El objetivo fue analizar la evolución del consumo de las drogas de inicio y de impacto en usuarios adolescentes previo al ingreso a un centro de tratamiento residencial. Fue estudio retrospectivo, longitudinal. Se recopiló información de los expedientes de adolescentes masculinos de 12 a 19 años, residentes que ingresaron a la comunidad terapéutica durante el período 2013 a 2021. Se realizó un análisis de la evolución de la edad de inicio, droga de inicio y de impacto durante el período anteriormente mencionado. Los resultados incluyeron 330 expedientes de adolescentes. La edad promedio de inicio de consumo de drogas se mantuvo entre 11.6 y 12.8 años. El alcohol y el tabaco fueron las principales drogas de inicio con excepción del año 2019 que se reportó con mayor porcentaje la mariguana. La principal droga de impacto fue la mariguana, sin embargo, en los años 2019 a 2021 se ubicó en el segundo lugar, ante el incremento en el reporte de cristal. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas entre el período de tiempo estudiado y la evolución tanto de la droga de inicio como de la droga de impacto, que fundamentan la necesidad de diseñar estrategias de intervención diferenciadas.

    In recent years, the increase in the consumption of psychoactive substances in adolescents has grown considerably and is considered a serious public health problem, which highlights the need to carry out studies on the characteristics of consumption in order to offer specific treatment alternatives. The objective was to analyze the evolution of drug use at the beginning and its impact on adolescent users prior to admission to a residential treatment center. It was retrospective and longitudinal study. Information was collected from the records of male adolescents from 12 to 19 years of age, residents who entered the therapeutic community in the period 2013 to 2021. An analysis of the evolution of the age of onset, drug of initiation and of impact during the aforementioned period. The results 330 files of adolescents were included. The average age of initiation of drug use remained between 11.6 and 12.8 years. Alcohol and tobacco were the main starting drugs, with the exception of 2019, when marijuana was reported with a higher percentage. The main impact drug was marijuana, however, in the years 2019 to 2021 it ranked second, due to the increase in the crystal report. The results showed significant differences between the period of time studied and the evolution of both the initial drug and the impact drug, which support the need to design differentiated intervention strategies.
