  • Resumen
    • “Black Militant” is a term that is generally reserved for present day revolutionists. It is equally applicable, however, to some of the Negro leaders of the Convention Movement of the late 1830's and 1840's. In this article the writer examines a speaking situation during the Negro Convention of 1843 in which a militant leader, Henry Highland Garnet, advocated insurrection in mass by the four million American Slaves.
