  • Broadcasting could be the single, most important force on western civilization in 2000 years. Yet in some ways, southern colleges and universities have been deficient in their academic treatment of those “twentieth century phenomena—radio and television.” The continuing economic and sociological impact of these media would seem to make the immediate correction of these deficiencies an imperative.
