  • Resumen
    • This study provides the comparative study of energy dissipation characteristics of semi-cylindrical and hemispherical structures subjected to projectile impact. The experimental tests were conducted by using a compressed air gun against hemispherical and ogive projectile. Numerical study was performed by employing Abaqus/explicit solver. Also, numerical analysis was further stretched to find out the absorbed energy dissipation in different direction. The impact response of both the structures was examined in terms of ballistic resistance, transverse deformation, failure mechanics and energy dissipation in plastic works. The semi-hemispherical shell exhibits higher ballistic resistance and absorbed energy than semi-cylindrical shell structure against both projectiles.
