    El resultado científico que aquí se ofrece se corresponde con el desarrollo de la primera tarea investigativa de la tesis doctoral de su autor principal. El mismo consiste en un estudio histórico del tratamiento dado en la literatura especializada y en la práctica educativa, al dominio de los contenidos presentes en los diccionarios geográficos cubanos (nacional y provinciales), por parte de los estudiantes de la especialidad pedagógica de Geografía. El método del nivel teórico que permitió realizar dicho estudio es el histórico lógico. Como resultados de esta tarea investigativa se presentan etapas evolutivas y tendencias. De ello derivó, como carencia histórica, la ausencia generalizada de referentes acerca de las potencialidades educativas de diccionarios geográficos nacionales y provinciales.

    The scientific result offered here, corresponds to the development of the first research task of the doctoral thesis of the main author. It consists of a historical study of the treatment given in the specialized literature and in the educational practice, to the domain for the students related to the pedagogic specialty of Geography, of the contents present in the Cuban geographical dictionaries, both, the national and the provincial ones, especially, the one of Las Tunas. The purpose of this work is focused on systematizing and revealing the theoretical and practical treatment, historically, given to the domain of the content present in the national and provincial geographical dictionaries, by the students of the bachelor’s Degree in Education. Geography, in Cuba. The method of the theoretical level that allowed this study to be carried out is the historical-logical one. As results of this research task are presented the evolutionary stages and trends. As a result, as a historical lack, the absence of references about the educational potentialities of the national and provincial dictionaries.
