  Diversas investigaciones sobre alfabetización inicial han señalado la importancia de la lectura y escritura de textos como actividades relevantes de adquisición del lenguaje en el aula. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la efectividad de un programa de apoyo para incrementar el nivel de lectoescritura de alumnos de primer y segundo grado en la institución educativa basado en actividades de lectura y escritura de textos. Participaron 11 estudiantes de nivel primaria quienes fueron seleccionados mediante la aplicación de un instrumento diagnostico para conocer el nivel inicial de alfabetización de los estudiantes de los grupos de primer y segundo grado. Los resultados señalaron que los 11 estudiantes participantes se encontraban en un nivel de lectoescritura menor al nivel alfabético predominante en el resto de sus compañeros de grupo. Las actividades realizadas por los alumnos participantes consisten en la lectura de textos cortos para posteriormente contestar una serie de preguntas de forma escrita. Estas actividades se fueron llevadas a cabo durante dos horas, dos veces a la semana en un periodo de 3 meses. Al finalizar la implementación se les aplico nuevamente el instrumento para determinar el nivel de lectoescritura. Los resultados mostraron un nivel más alto que el obtenido inicialmente por lo cual se considera que el programa tuvo éxito en ayudar a incrementar el nivel de lectoescritura de los estudiantes.

  Various research on initial literacy has pointed out the importance of reading and writing texts as relevant language acquisition activities in the classroom. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a support program to increase the level of reading and writing of first and second grade students in the educational institution based on reading and writing activities of texts according to the global literacy method. 11 primary school students participated who were selected through the application of a diagnostic instrument to know the initial level of literacy of the students in the first and second grade groups. The results indicated that the 11 participating students were at a lower literacy level than the predominant alphabetic level of the rest of their groupmates. The activities carried out by the participating students consist of reading short texts and then answering a series of questions in writing. These activities were carried out for two hours, twice a week over a period of 3 months. At the end of the implementation, the instrument is applied again to determine the level of reading and writing. The results showed a higher level than that initially obtained, which is why it is considered that the program was successful in helping to increase the students' reading and writing level.
