    Este artículo trata del surgimiento de los ambulantes informales en Lima colonial y la gestión de las autoridades para erradicarlos. En la capital del virreinato del Perú, la regatonería fue ejercida en mayor medida por las mujeres que por los hombres y era bastante perseguida y denunciada por las autoridades por la venta informal al menudeo de productos de primera necesidad, comprados al por mayor. La informalidad fue la constante en las calles limeñas y las autoridades trataron, incluso, de formalizar la regatonería con intentos fallidos, para obtener mayores ganancias por parte de los cajoneros, un tipo de vendedor formal, con beneplácito del cabildo.

    This article deals with the emergence of informal street vendors in colonial Lima and the management of the authorities to eradicate them. In the capital of the viceroyalty of Peru, reggatonería was exercised to a greater extent by women than by men and was widely persecuted and denounced by the authorities for the informal retail sale of basic necessities, bought wholesale. Informality was the constant activity in the streets of Lima and the authorities even tried to formalize the regatonería with unsuccessful attempts, to obtain greater profits from the cajoneros, a type of formal vendor, with the approval of the council, so that they could compete. with other merchants and be able to meet their payments and obligations.
