El presente trabajo se lo realizó con un enfoque cualitativo con el objetivo diagnosticar los elementos que compone el sistema turístico en la provincia del Carchi, para tal efecto se adoptó la metodología propuesta por (Ricaurte, 2009), la misma que establece tres fases, la primera fase es el diseño del diagnóstico y tiene como propósito definir el tipo y la forma de recolección de información, para esto se realizó la delimitación del área de estudio, revisión de literatura y planificación del trabajo de campo, luego se ejecutó el trabajo de campo aplicando tres instrumentos, una ficha de diagnóstico, una ficha de caracterización y la ficha de inventario y jerarquización de atractivos, como resultados se pudo evidenciar que el sistema turístico de la provincia del Carchi es deficiente y se debe mejorar algunos aspectos por cada uno de los elementos.
