    Los hábitos bucales deformantes se definen como la costumbre o práctica que se adquiere de un acto; por su repetición frecuente hacen que actúen fuerzas no naturales sobre los dientes que pueden causar alteraciones dentomaxilofaciales, como por ejemplo las maloclusiones dentarias. Con el objetivo de describir los hábitos bucales deformantes, sus características clínicas y su tratamiento, se llevó a cabo esta revisión bibliográfica citando 18 artículos científicos consultados mediante bases de datos: Ebsco, Hinari, Scielo. Se llegó a la conclusión de que los hábitos bucales deformantes son la causa fundamental de las maloclusiones. Un diagnóstico y un tratamiento tempranos pueden prevenir alteraciones de la región dentomaxilofacial.

    The deformants buccal habits are defined as the costume or practice that is acquired as an act; for their frequent repetition not natural forces act on the teeth that they can cause dentomaxillofaciales alterations for example the dental malocclusions. With the goal of describing the deformants buccal habits, its clinical characteristics and its treatment it was carried out this bibliographical revision, mentioning 18 scientific articles consulted by means of databases: Ebsco, Hinari, Scielo. The authors arrived to the conclusion that the deformants buccal habits are the main cause of the malocclusions. An earlier diagnosis and treatment can prevent alterations of the region dentomaxillofacial.
