Resumen de Crónicas del teatro carcelario en Ecuador: Dramatización vs. Responsabilidad Social

El siguiente trabajo de investigación se centra en la ambivalencia con la que se trata la responsabilidad social y la dramatización en las prácticas de teatro penitenciario en el país. Aborda los aspectos teóricos y metodológicos de este tipo de teatro aplicado y su relación con las cárceles de manera casi coercitiva por medio de los proyectos de vinculación con la colectividad. Expone las contradicciones y peligros de entender el arte teatral como mera herramienta de dramatización, antes que como un agente de cambio y liberación. Durante el periodo junio-diciembre de 2015, se desarrolló el proyecto de teatro carcelario en el Centro de Rehabilitación Social (CRS) de Turi en la ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador. Como parte de los proyectos de vinculación con la comunidad, trabajaron estrechamente: el Centro de Rehabilitación Social y la Escuela de Arte Teatral de la Universidad del Azuay. El método utilizado estuvo inspirado en el Teatro del Oprimido de Augusto Boal.

This research focused on the ambivalence with which social responsibility and dramatization are treated in theater practices in the country. The study addressed the theoretical and methodological aspects of applied theater and its relationship with prisons in a quasi-coercive way through linkage projects with the community. This work exposed the contradictions and dangers of understanding theatre only as a “dramatization” toolrather than an agent of change and liberation. The project was carried out during the June-December period in 2015 in collaboration with the Social Rehabilitation Center in Turi, Cuenca and the School of Theater Arts of the University of Azuay as part of the linkage projects with the community. The method used was inspired by the Theater of the Oppressed by Augusto Boal.
