Hermilio Valdizán, es considerado el padre de la historiografía médica peruana, él tenía el deseo de escribir una “Enciclopedia” de la verruga peruana. Recientes revistas médicas reproducen la queja de Valdizán de no recibir apoyo del gobierno en la publicación de un libro de referencia de la enfermedad de Carrión que reúna todas las investigaciones de la enfermedad de Carrión. sin embargo, el libro soñado por Hermilio Valdizán se llegó a editar. El libro titulado “Documentos peruanos referentes a la enfermedad de Carrión” fue editado por el propio Hermilio Valdizán y Celso Bambaren, reúne las biografías de los principales investigadores de verruga peruana y sus investigaciones desde Salazar hasta mediados del siglo XX(1), “La Enciclopedia” de la verruga peruana de Valdizán prácticamente es desconocida para la mayoría de investigadores de la enfermedad de Carrión, debería ser considerado como un hito en la investigación de la enfermedad de Carrión, dado que reúne las primeras investigaciones sobre la verruga peruana y debería ser conocido y considerado como lo son, el libro de “La enfermedad de Carrión” de Ernesto Odriozola o el de “Verruga Peruana” de Raúl Rebagliati.

Hermilio Valdizán is considered the father of peruvian medical historiography, he had the desire to write an “Encyclopedia” of the peruvian wart. Recent medical journals reproduce Valdizán's complaint of not receiving government support in the publication of a reference book on Carrión's disease that gathers all the research on the Carrión's disease however, the book dreamed by Hermilio Valdizán was published. The book entitled “Peruvian documents referring to Carrión's disease” was edited by Hermilio Valdizán himself and Celso Bambaren, it brings together the biographies of the main wart researchers and its research from Salazar to the mid-20th century. Valdizán's “Encyclopedia” of the peruvian wart is practically unknown to most researchers of Carrión's disease, it should be considered as a milestone in the investigation of Carrión's disease, since it brings together the first investigations on the peruvian wart, it should be considered and known as the books “Carrión's disease” by Ernesto Odriozola or the “Peruvian Wart” by Raúl Rebagliati.
