    Este texto consiste na conferência de abertura do XV ENANPEGE –Encontro Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Geografia, ocorrido na Universidade Federal do Tocantins no município de Palmas, entre os dias 09 e 13 de outubro de 2023. Na condição de presidente da Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Geografia (ANPEGE), esta conferência tem um caráter político e foi sucedida por outra, de caráter mais técnico-científico. A linha da abordagem utilizada foi a de realizar uma análise de conjuntura, situando o desenvolvimento da pós-graduação em Geografia no Brasil no contexto político e econômico recente, marcado por ataques à democracia, à ciência, à diversidade e às diferenças. O texto conclui reconhecendo o período atual, marcado por um governo que reestabelece os sentidos da civilidade, como sendo de reconstrução do Brasil, apelando aos geógrafos o seu engajamento neste processo

    This text consists of the opening conference of the XV ENANPEGE –National Meeting of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Geography, held at the Federal University of Tocantins in the municipality of Palmas, between the 9th and 13th of October 2023. As president of the National Association forPostgraduate Studies and Research in Geography (ANPEGE), this conference has a political nature and was succeeded by another, of a more technical-scientific nature. The line of approach used was to carry out a conjuncture analysis, placing the development of postgraduate studies in Geography in Brazil in the recent political and economic context, marked by attacks on democracy, science, diversity and differences. The text concludes by recognizing the current period, marked by a government that reestablishes the meanings of civility, as one of reconstruction of Brazil, appealing to geographers for their engagement in this process.
