Una persona ostomizada se define como la portadora de un acceso externo realizado de manera quirúrgica para la secreción de orina y heces, el cual posee distinta localización del orificio natural. Debido a ello, el individuo presenta una serie de alteraciones biológicas, psicológicas y sociales 1 que generan consecuencias negativas en su calidad de vida2.
Es muy importante garantizar los cuidados por parte del profesional de enfermería en todo el período perioperatorio, postoperatorio y alta hospitalaria3,4. Se proporcionará un plan de cuidados que favorezca la seguridad y confianza del individuo en su nueva etapa de vida5.

An ostomized person is defined as a carrier of a surgically performed external access for the secretion of urine and feces, which has a different location from the natural orifice. Due to this, the individual presents a series of biological, psychological and social alterations that generate negative consequences in their quality of life.
It is very important to guarantee the care provided by the nursing professional throughout the perioperative, postoperative and discharge periods. A care plan that favors the safety and confidence of the individual in his new stage of life will be provided.
