El objetivo del presente estudio fue describir y analizar los mecanismos y el contexto de las lesiones en jugadores masculinos de hockey sobre césped. Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo y transversal. Se utilizó un muestro no probabilístico por conveniencia. Participaron del presente estudio 455 jugadores de hockey sobre césped, masculinos e infantojuveniles, pertenecientes al Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires, durante los periodos 2012-2015 y 2017-2019, inclusive. Se registraron un total de 144 lesiones, en el 28,5% el mecanismo de las lesiones fue traumáticas, lo cual representa a 41 lesiones, mientras que 71,5% fueron por sobreuso o microtraumáticas, en total 103. El contexto, el 26,2% sucedieron por fuera de la actividad, representando un total de 38 lesiones; durante los entrenamientos metabólicos 35 lesiones; tantos los entrenamientos técnicos/tácticos como, durante, los partidos oficiales, 32; y, por último, durante los entrenamientos de fuerza, 7 lesiones. En conclusión, este estudio epidemiológico de 7 años, no consecutivos, permitió conocer los mecanismos y contextos de las lesiones en el hockey sobre césped, masculino, en una muestra de 455 jugadores. Gracias a los datos recolectados en este artículo, servirán para futuras intervenciones prácticas, siendo el objetivo principal la prevención de lesiones.
The objective of the present study was to describe and analyze the mechanisms and context of injuries in male field hockey players. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. A non-probabilistic sample was used for convenience. 455 male and youth field hockey players, belonging to the Buenos Aires Gymnastics and Fencing Club, participated in this study during the periods 2012-2015 and 2017-2019, inclusive. A total of 144 injuries were recorded, in 28.5% the mechanism of injury was traumatic, which represents 41 injuries, while 71.5% were due to overuse or microtraumatic, a total of 103. The context, 26 .2% occurred outside of the activity, representing a total of 38 injuries; during metabolic training 35 injuries; both technical/tactical training and, during official matches, 32; and, finally, during strength training, 7 injuries. In conclusion, this 7-year, non-consecutive epidemiological study allowed us to understand the mechanisms and contexts of injuries in men's field hockey, in a sample of 455 players. Thanks to the data collected in this article, they will be used for future practical interventions, the main objective being injury prevention
