Resumen de La creencia y las bases del humor

  El artículo busca mostrar la relevancia yamplitud filosóficas del humor, presentando una teoría filosófica de este fenómeno. En primer lugar, se rechaza la teoría clásica que explica el humor en términos de incongruencia. En segundo lugar, se ofrece una nueva teoría que explica el humor en términos de la capacidad para 'oscilar' entre distintos grupos de creencias. Para explicar la teoría, se enfatiza el papel que desempeñan las creencias de segundo orden típicas de la mente humana. Finalmente, se aplica la teoría al debate sobre lo políticamente correcto.

  This paper tries to show the philosophical relevance of humour, presenting a philosophical theory of it. Firstly, the classical theory that explains humour in terms of incongruence is rejected. Secondly, a new theory is articulated, explaining humour in terms of the capacity of 'flickering' among distinct series of beliefs. To explain this theory, the role that plays the typically human second-order beliefs is stressed. Finally, the theory is applied to the debate about political correctness.
