Placer y felicidad son términos que desde la antigüedad han estado unidos intrínsecamente por su denotación correlativa. Partiendo de la época clásica griega, cuando se racionaliza el mundo que nos rodea, la noción de placer forma parte o integra más bien la felicidad.Aristipo, filósofo griego del siglo V a. de c. discipulo de Sócrates, fundamenta su doctrina moral identificando la felicidad como el «sistema de placeres». Connotación que para la posterior filosofía empirista del siglo XVIII resurge para enmarcarse en la Constitución estadounidense como un derecho natural inalienable del ser humano: “la búsqueda de la felicidad”.

Pleasure and happiness are terms that since ancient times have been intrinsically linked by their correlative denotation. Starting from the classical Greek era, when the world around us is rationalized, the notion of pleasure is part or rather integrates happiness, Aristippus, Greek philosopher of the 5th century B.C., disciple of Socrates, bases his moral doctrine identifying happiness as the "system of pleasures". Connotation that for the later empiricist philosophy of the 18th century resurfaces to be framed in the American Constitution as an inalienable natural right of the human being: "the pursuit of happiness".
