In this article Mikel Urquijo has compiled a guide to the sources available for the study of the Spanish Parliament in the period from 1808 to 1874. It has been divided into four sections: the first comprises materials on the different electoral systems and the way in which they operated. The second includes a comprehensive list of published work on the biographies of the members of parliaments, with a general guide to the main collections of unpublished archival records. The third section deals with materials on parliamentary procedure and the internal organization of parliaments. The fourth section is concerned with materials on the powers and functions of parliaments. In conclusion the article indicates briefly some areas where there is a need for further systematic research.
