Objetivo: describir las características operativas de la reacción en cadena de la polimerasa en tiempo real (qPCR) y la amplificación isotérmica mediada por bucle (LAMP) para el diagnóstico de tuberculosis pulmonar causada por los miembros del complejo Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Métodos: revisión sistemática de la literatura científica publicada durante los años 2005 a 2009, de la prueba LAMP comparada con la qPCR para el diagnóstico de tuberculosis pulmonar.
Resultados: los hallazgos mostraron sensibilidades entre 94,1% a 100% para las pruebas LAMP, en comparación con 85,2% a 86,3% para la prueba qPCR, y especificidades entre 94,2% - 100% para LAMP frente a 88,6% - 100% para la prueba qPCR.
Conclusiones: estos hallazgos demuestran la relevancia de evaluar las pruebas mencionadas en nuestra región para mejorar el diagnóstico de esta enfermedad.
Objective: to describe the operating characteristics of the real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) and Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis caused by the members of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.
Methods: systematic review of the scientific literature published during the years 2005 to 2009, of LAMP test compared to qPCR for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Results: the findings showed sensibilities among 94.1% to 100% for LAMP tests, compared to 85.2% to 86.3% for qPCR test, and specificities between 94.2% - 100 % for LAMP as opposed to 88.6% – 100% for qPCR test.
Conclusions: these findings demonstrate the relevance of evaluating the above mentioned tests in our region to improve the diagnosis of this disease.
