Resumen de Double reduction policy’s influence on music, arts, and education in shandong’s schools: A comprehensive study

Xin Feng

  • This study delves into the multifaceted impact of China’s Double Reduction Policy on education within Shandong’s primary and secondary schools. Specifically, it seeks to investigate the relationships between quality assurance of education, student engagement, academic performance, and the perception of education equity. Drawing from engagement theory and social identity theory, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these variables interact within the policy framework. Data were collected from 303 students across five schools in Shandong, China. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM) was employed to analyze the relationships between the variables. The research assessed the quality assurance of education under the Double Reduction Policy, student engagement, academic performance, and the perception of education equity using validated measures. The study also considered the mediating role of student engagement and the moderating role of education equity perception in the relationship between policy-driven quality assurance and academic performance. The findings revealed a positive and statistically significant relationship between quality assurance of education and academic performance. Student engagement emerged as a significant mediator in this relationship, emphasizing the importance of fostering an engaging learning environment to enhance academic outcomes. Moreover, the perception of education equity significantly moderated the relationship between quality assurance and academic performance, highlighting the role of equity considerations in policy effectiveness. These results have practical implications for policymakers and educators, suggesting the need for continued investment in quality assurance measures, strategies to promote student engagement, and efforts to ensure equitable policy implementation. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of policy impact in educational contexts and informs future policy refinement in Shandong and beyond.
