Resumen de “Buscar la verdad en la vida y la vida en la verdad”: la religión de Miguel de Unamuno.

El 9 de diciembre de 1907, en La Nación de Buenos Aires, Unamuno publicó el breve en-sayo “Mi religión”, en el que intentó responder a la pregunta incesante sobre su propio cre-do, así como describir su “talante espiritual”. La respuesta de Unamuno es sobria: “Buscar la verdad en la vida y la vida en la verdad”. Al responder de manera tan categórica, afirma que no buscaba “sino plantear algo mejor el sentido de tal pregunta”. Además de presentar el resto de la respuesta de Unamuno, abundaremos sobre la relación entre la verdad y la vida y su importancia central dentro del fenómeno y el sentimiento religioso que Unamuno pretende, por lo menos, enunciar y distinguir. Notaremos que, para Unamuno, el tema de la “verdad y vida” trasciende a la filosofía, pero también a la teología, que, a su parecer, no es sino racionalización filosófica del gran misterio que es nuestra existencia.

On December 9, 1907, in La Nación of Buenos Aires, Unamuno published the short es-say “Mi religión”, in which he tried to answer the incessant question about his own creed, as well as describe his “spiritual character”. Unamuno’s response is sober: “Seek the truth in life and life in the truth.” By answering so categorically, he affirms that he did not seek “but to better raise the meaning of such a question.” In addition to presenting the rest of Unamuno’s response, we will elaborate on the relationship between truth and life and its central importance within the phenomenon and religious feeling that Unamuno intends, at least, to enunciate and distinguish. We will note that, for Unamuno, the theme of “truth and life” transcends philosophy, but also theology, which, in his opinion, is nothing more than a philosophical rationalization of the mystery that is our existence.
