    Nuevos conceptos fisiopatológicos sobre el asma desarrollados durante la última década, de ser una enfermedad crónica e inflamatoria, conducen a cambios en la forma de enfocar la terapia de los pacientes con asma. Los medicamentos que alguna vez se consideraron como la primera opción ahora son nuestra tercera y / o cuarta opción, pero los medicamentos que se usaron en las últimas etapas de la enfermedad, recomendamos que se usen temprano. Estos nuevos cambios en el tratamiento del asma, junto con la voluntad de educar no solo al paciente asmático sino también a su familia, el uso adecuado de los inhaladores con cámaras y los usos del Peak Flow probablemente disminuyan. morbilidad y mortalidad de la enfermedad en el futuro.

    Newer pathophysiologic concepts about Asthma developed during the last decade, of being a chronic and an inflammatory disease, lead to changes in the way to focus the therapy of the asthma patients. Medicaments that were once considered as of first choice are now our third and/or fourth choice, but drugs that were used on the latter stages of the disease, we recommend lo be used early. These new changes in the treatment of asthma, together with the will to educate not only the asthmatic patient but his or her family as well, the adequate use of the inhalers with chambers, and the ~t uses of the Peak Flow are likely to decrease morbidity and morta1ity of the disease in the future.
