Resumen de Abceso hepático amibiano agudo agresivo con superinfección por bacilo anthrax

Se presenta un varón de 19 años con absceso hepático amebiano sobreinfectado por Bacillus anthracis. Esta asociación inusual no se encontró en la literatura. El diagnóstico se realizó por el cuadro clínico de fiebre, dolor en hipocondrio derecho y hepatomegalia con masa. Se confirmó mediante ecografía positiva a Entameba histolytica, anticuerpos y aislamiento del microorganismo del absceso pus. Se utilizaron metronidazol, emetina y antibióticos para el tratamiento.

An 19 year old man with amebic liver abscess superinfected with Bacillus anthracis is presented. This unusual association was not found in the literature. Diagnosis was made by the clinical picture of fever, pain in the right hipochondrium and hepatomegaly with a mass. It was confirmed by echography positive Entameba histolytica, antibodies and isolation of the microorganism from the abscess pus. Metronidazole, emetine and antibiotics were used for treatment.
