    En este trabajo, tras un panorama de la evolución de la alternancia entre los derivados de illorum y de suus en las lenguas románicas, nos centraremos en el caso catalán por ser una lengua puente entre las áreas iberorrománica y galorrománica. Estudiaremos y matizaremos el papel del contacto lingüístico en la evolución de la alternancia llur/seu en catalán, cuestionando la noción de frontera y evidenciando la existencia de un continuum lingüístico entre las dos áreas estudiadas y dentro del mismo dominio catalán. Proponemos entender el cambio lingüístico como el resultado de la acción conjunta de varios factores, entre los cuales, para este trabajo, resaltaremos no solo las consecuencias directas e indirectas del contacto lingüístico, sino también el papel esencial de su contrario, la falta de contacto, es decir, la incidencia del grado de distancia con respecto a los centros de poder y a la variedad en uso allí, que puede coincidir en mayor o menor medida con la lengua estándar.

    In this paper, following an overview of the evolution of the alternation between illorumand suus derivations in Romance languages, we will focus on the case of Catalan, which representsa sort of bridge between Ibero-Romanic and Gallo-Romanic languages. The article examines andaims to qualify the role of the linguistic contact in the evolution of the alternation llur/seu inCatalan, questioning the notion of border, while evidencing the existence of a linguistic continuum between the two areas, as well as within the Catalan domain itself. We propose to consider linguistic change as a result of joint action of several factors, among which, for this work, we will highlight not only the direct and indirect consequences of linguistic contact but also the essentialrole of its opposite, the absence of contact, i.e., the impact of the degree of distance from thecentres of power and the variety of language in use there, which may coincide to a greater or lesser extent with the standard language.
