This article focuses on the dynamics of male first names in an urban area located to the east of the city of Mostaganem in the north of Algeria. No less than 2070 first names were inventoried over a decade from 2010 to 2020. We believe that this is a relatively representative period which reflects both the discursive and enunciative evolution and therefore also the possible constancy or, on the contrary, an evolution socio-historical-religious.
The aim of this study is to find out if certain first names resist time or fade away, leaving other names which perhaps do not belong to the model that has been in place for a long time. We will answer the questions opposite: What is the essential component of male first names in this small town in the wilaya of Mostaganem? What would be the impact of the chronological variable on the attribution of these first names? Would there be limited stock in their allocation? Does the male first name name a person to distinguish him or to dilute him in the mass to the detriment of a particular community? After semantically categorizing the first names in the sample into non-religious and religious first names, we cross-referenced the results with the socio-political—historical-economic situation of the country and the region in order to identify a variation that could affect the attribution of first names and consequently the first name culture in place.

Cet article s’intéresse à la dynamique prénominative masculine dans une agglomération située à l’Est de la ville de Mostaganem au nord de l’Algérie. Pas moins de 2070 prénoms ont été inventoriés sur une décennie de 2010 à 2020. Nous pensons que c’est une période relativement représentative qui reflète à la fois l’évolution discursive et énonciative et donc aussi l’éventuelle constance ou, au contraire une évolution socio-historico-religieuse.
Le but de cette étude est de savoir si certains prénoms résistent au temps ou bien s’étiolent laissant d’autres appellatifs qui, peut-être n’appartiennent pas au modèle longtemps en place. Nous allons répondre aux questions ci-contre : Quelle est la composante essentielle des prénoms masculins dans cette petite ville de la wilaya de Mostaganem ? Quel serait l’impact de la variable chronologique sur l’attribution de ces prénoms ? Y aurait-il un stock limité dans leur attribution? Est-ce que le prénom masculin dénomme une personne pour le distinguer ou pour le diluer dans la masse au détriment d’une communauté particulière ? Après avoir catégorisé sémantiquement les prénoms de l’échantillon en prénoms non-religieux et religieux, nous avons croisé les résultats avec la situation socio-politico—historico-économique du pays et de la région afin d’identifier une variation qui pourrait affecter l’attribution des prénoms et conséquemment la culture prénominative en place.
