    A  pesar  de  que  conservamos  el  nombre  arcaico ,  ligado  a  la  concepción  del  libro  y  de  la biblioteca frente a un acelerado desarrollo que involucro tecnologías y  materiales  digitales  en  el  manejo  de  información. La  tendencia  más  seguida  es  que  la  profesión  debe  cambiar  pasando  a  enfatizar  otras habilidades.
