The problem of the representation of these places involves aspects related not only to the architectural structure but also to the furniture system and tools that are an integral part of a single and interdependent system. Pharmacies, like that of the Sanctuary of La Verna, are among the few historical realities that have been more successful in maintaining and bearing witness to their cultural and artistic past, representing an important element of the history and culture of a territory.

Le farmacie storiche costituiscono un patrimonio spesso poco considerato, la cui importanza è dimostrata dal fatto che custodiscono arredi, strumenti, suppellettili e archivi librari di pregio che tramandano antichi saperi, spesso legati alla struttura sociale ed evolutiva del territorio e che ci sono pervenuti a volte perdendo il legame con la funzione originaria e il loro carattere di integrità. Il problema della rappresentazione di questi luoghi coinvolge aspetti legati non solo alla struttura architettonica ma anche al sistema del mobile nelle sue singole parti e agli strumenti e suppellettili che costituiscono un unico complesso sistema interdipendente in ciascuna delle sue componenti. Le farmacie, come quella del Santuario della Verna, sono tra le poche realtà storiche che hanno avuto più successo nel mantenere e testimoniare il proprio passato culturale e artistico, rappresentando un elemento importante della storia e della cultura di un territorio.
