    The Roman society shared burial practices aimed at respecting the deceased and perpetuating their names in the sacred landscape of necropolises. Built along the city's access roads, today we can still explore numerous archaeological sites that gift visitors with monumental burial structures, which are related to various social interests and practices. This article aims to understand representations of death and its relations with the memory from mortuary landscape and its family relationships in the philosophical logos of Lucius Annaeus Seneca by examining the impact representations of death in the Neron court at the time of AD 62. From there, we will make some critical reflections on the aristocratic behaviours regarding to the family and the mourning, thus, by analysing the practice of uirtus, we wil understand the creation of behavioural rules to the public expression of pain and the insertion of more particular and emotional dimensions in the way they reminded of the dead from the perspective of Seneca.

    A sociedade romana comungava práticas de sepultamentos que se destinavam ao respeito aos mortos e à perpetuação de seus nomes na paisagem sagrada das necrópoles. Construídas nas vias de acesso das cidades, podemos percorrer, ainda, hoje, inúmeros sítios arqueológicos que presenteiam os visitantes com estruturas monumentais de sepulturas, as quais relacionam-se aos diferentes interesses e práticas sociais. Com isso em mente, este artigo tem como objetivo compreender as práticas mortuárias e suas relações com a memória a partir da paisagem funerária e das relações familiares no lógos filosófico de Lúcio Aneu Sêneca. Em diálogo com os vestígios materiais, pretende-se investigar o impacto da morte na corte neroniana à época de 62 d.C. A partir daí, serão traçadas reflexões acerca dos comportamentos aristocráticos em relação à família e ao luto e, dessa forma, ao analisar a prática da uirtus, compreender-se-á a criação de normas de condutas para a expressão pública da dor e a inserção de dimensões mais particulares e emocionais no modo como se lembravam dos mortos sob a perspectiva de Sêneca.
