Resumen de Alexandria ptolomaica na perspectiva de uma história global

Alexandria was founded on the Egyptian Mediterranean coast by King Alexander III of Macedon at the start of his campaign against the Achaemenid-Persian Empire (332/331 BCE). In the following decades, the seaside city replaced Memphis as the seat of monarchical power in Egypt. Its development reconfigured the urban and political dynamics in the former Nilotic territory and formalized the Greek presence in the Delta, at that time through its insertion also in the Egyptian command. In dialogue with the recent perspectives of Global History, the expectation of this article is to rethink the history of Alexandria by discussing how the foundation and initial history of the city made it a place conducive to mobility and interlinking.

Alexandria foi fundada no litoral mediterrânico egípcio pelo rei Alexandre III da Macedônia no início da sua campanha contra o Império Persa-Aquemênida (332/331 AEC). Nas décadas seguintes, a cidade litorânea substituiu Mênfis como a sede do poder monárquico no Egito. Seu desenvolvimento reconfigurou a dinâmica urbana e política no antigo território nilótico e formalizou a presença grega no Delta, nesse momento por meio de sua inserção também no comando egípcio. Em diálogo com as recentes perspectivas da História Global, a expectativa do presente artigo é repensar a história de Alexandria discutindo de que forma a fundação e história inicial da cidade a tornaram um local propício à mobilidade e entrelaçamentos.
