Los gossypibomas son resultado de una reacción inflamatoria a material quirúrgico olvidado en cavidad; son una afección poco usual y con un subregistro importante. Presentamos el caso de un paciente de 63 años con dolor abdominal cuyos estudios de rayos X y tomografía revelan un cuerpo extraño en la cavidad abdominal. El objetivo de este reporte es familiarizar al lector con los hallazgos por imagen más comunes en el escenario del gossypiboma abdominal.

Gossypibomas are the result of an inflammatory reaction to surgical material left in the cavity; they are an unusual entity with significant underreporting. We present this case report of a 63-year-old patient with abdominal pain whose x-ray and tomography studies revealed a foreign body in the abdominal cavity. The objective of this report is to familiarize the reader with the most common imaging findings in the setting of abdominal gossypiboma.
