    Los museos y colecciones universitarios comprenden bienes culturales con gran diversidad tipológica ymatérica. Dichos bienes fueron compilados a través de varias generaciones gracias a su adquisición porparte de profesores universitarios como herramientas docentes e investigadoras, además de donacionespuntuales realizadas a las universidades por parte de instituciones y ciudadanos particulares. Aunque sonuna de las mayores representaciones de la antigua y contemporánea historia social y universitaria, losestudios divulgativos realizados hasta día de hoy sobre los mismos han sido escasos, y es por ello, que enla actualidad gran parte de la sociedad en general, e incluso de la comunidad universitaria, seadesconocedora del gran patrimonio que tienen a su alcance y del inmenso valor del mismo. Mediante esteartículo, además de hacer una revisión y reflexión sobre las particularidades de las colecciones y museosque se encuentran tras las Universidades, se pretende poner en relieve la necesaria conservación y puestaen valor de los mismos. Como caso de estudio se describen las colecciones y museos que alberga laUnivesitat Politècnica de Valencia en el Fondo de Arte y Patrimonio y los riesgos que ponen en peligro laintegridad conservativa de los mismos.

    University museums and collections include cultural assets with great typological and material diversity.These objects were compiled over several generations thanks to their acquisition by university professorsas teaching and researching tools. Although they are one of the largest representations of ancient andcontemporary, social and university history, the informative studies carried out to this day have been scarceand that is why today much of society in general, and even the university community, is unaware of thegreat patrimony they have at their disposal and the immense value of it. This article, in addition toreviewing and reflecting on the particularities of the collections and museums behind the Universities, aimsto highlight the need to preserve and enhance their value. As a case study, we describe the collections andmuseums housed at the Univesitat Politècnica de Valencia in its heritage and art collection and the risksthat endanger their conservation integrity.
