    Este artículo se ocupa de la representa-ción del espacio urbano en las ficciones televisivas a través de un enfoque que, partiendo de los trabajos alrededor de la imagen en movimiento y sus modos de producción, incorpora aportes de los es-tudios críticos sobre las ciudades. A partir de un análisis de contenidos que involu-cra 10 series exitosas, el texto distingue tres modulaciones: una en la que la ciu-dad y su sentido se construyen apelando a las condiciones culturales previas del lugar —desde eventos históricos y heren-cias difíciles hasta cuestiones asentadas por el pintoresquismo, el turismo o la tra-dición popular—; otra en la que se explo-tan los elementos y características de la localización, amplificando, atenuando o retocando convenientemente sus distin-tas aristas en favor de la historia; y una tercera que apela directamente al espec-tador y su background para acercar ideas o realidades externas a la propia obra y producir un diálogo entre textos. Se con-cluye que las teleseries enfrentan el espa-cio como un hacer persuasivo, funcional y estético que, al echar mano de sus prác-ticas performativas, convierte a la ciudad en un paisaje que pone en evidencia una comprensión diferente y más fenomeno-lógica de la cotidianidad urbana

    This article deals with the representa-tion of urban space in television fiction through an approach that, starting from the works around the moving image and its modes of production, incorporates contributions from critical studies on cities. Through a content analysis that involves 10 successful series, the text distinguishes three modulations: one where the city and its meaning are built by appealing to the previous cultural conditions of the place—from historical events and difficult legacies to issues settled by picturesqueness, tourism or popular tradition—; another where the elements and characteristics of the lo-GIANCARLO CAPPELLO / MODULACIONES DE LA CIUDAD EN LA FICCIÓN TELEVISIVA CONTEMPORÁNEA / PP. 127-147 130cation are exploited, conveniently am-plifying, attenuating or retouching its different edges in favor of the story; and a third that appeals directly to the view-er and his background to bring ideas or external realities closer to the work itself and produce a dialogue between texts. It is concluded that the soap operas face the space as a persuasive, functional and aesthetic action that, by making use of their performative practices, turn the city into a landscape that reveals a differ-ent and more phenomenological under-standing of urban daily lif
