  • This article delves into the parallels between Watsuji’s seminal work, Ethics（『倫理学』）, and Hegel’s Principles of the Philosophy of Right, both in structural design and theoretical content. Additionally, the piece explores Watsuji’s use of Hegelian dialectics to modernize certain tenets from Buddhist and Confucian traditions, all set against the backdrop of Watsuji’s quest to affirm Japanese identity on the global stage
