El presente artículo viene a presentar los resultados de la intervención arqueológica efectuada en el número 52 de la calle Simón García de Murcia. En ella se obtuvieron datos acerca del uso de este emplazamiento desde mitad de siglo XVII hasta la actualidad, y donde se ha podido registrar la existencia de un potente muro de contención cuya finalidad era la de servir como malecón o dique para proteger en esa parte de la ciudad de las distintas avenidas del río Segura en un momento en el que el trazado del río era distinto al actual. De la misma manera, se ha podido documentar su amortización, en un momento indeterminado del siglo XVIII, así como la modificación urbanística de las primeras décadas del siglo XX.

This article comes to present the results of the archaeological intervention carried out at number 52 Simón García carnets in Murcia. In it, data was obtained about the use of this location from the middle of the 17th century to the present, and where it has been possible to record the existence of a powerful retaining wall whose purpose was to serveas a boardwalk or dam to protect that part of the city of the different avenues of the Segura River at a time when the route of the river was different from the current one.In the same way, it has been possible to document its amortization, at an indeterminate moment in the 18th century, as well as the urban modification of the first decades of the 20th century.
